Expressive Architecture is a southeast Michigan based architectural firm that has worked extensively throughout Michigan as well as on projects in Ohio, Indiana, Colorado, Illinois, West Virginia, Alaska, Minnesota, California, Texas and Oklahoma. We combine years of hands on construction experience with extensive architecture experience.

The firm and its principal Jeremy J. Griffis, RA, NCARB takes a deeply involved approach to each project to exceed expectations with creative and functional solutions. Collectively, Expressive Architecture has more than 20 years of experience on many project types. We do not limit the practice to a singular specialty. PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT / OWNER
JEREMY GRIFFIS
Jeremy has more than 20 years of experience on many project types including mixed-use, adaptive re-use, hospitality, retail, healthcare, religious, office, multiple-family housing and single-family residential spaces, including new build and renovations. He excels in combining his 20 years of extensive hands on construction skills with an architect’s demanding quality standards. Building on his knowledge of site and zoning analysis for new projects Jeremy also serves on his local planning commission and building code board of appeals. Cabinet and furniture making as well as finish carpentry, are Jeremy’s favorite hands on skills. When Jeremy isn't designing, building or fixing something he enjoys touring microbreweries and spending time with his family.
SENIOR ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER
JASON FOCHTMAN
Jason has been providing architectural services for automotive, retail and commercial environments for over 20 years. He has experience in both new build and renovation projects. Jason has provided full architectural services including conceptual design, construction documents, project management and construction administration for various project types and sizes. Throughout the years, he has developed an eye for the big picture as well as attentiveness to detail. When Jason is not at work he enjoys spending time with his family, BBQ smoking, cooking, wood working, completing home improvement projects and learning about new construction methods
SENIOR ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER
Gary leitner
Gary has over 20 years experience in architecture, interior design and building. He provides design and technical leadership on residential and commercial projects both large and small including the renovation of historic buildings, retail developments, experiential "exhibit" architecture and energy efficient "green" design. Born and raised in Northern Michigan, the natural beauty and array of architecture styles proved to be an inspiration in the development of his future in building and architecture. Gary enjoys drawing free hand color renderings of buildings and spending time outdoors or on the lake with his family and friends.

christine GRIFFIS
Christine has over 16 years of hands on experience in many different elements of residential renovation. She joined Expressive Architecture full time in 2016 to manage day to day operations and lend her keen eye to the design element of the firms many projects. Christine enjoys working on design / build projects. In her spare time she enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and 2 daughters.
